The National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) is an independent corporate Commonwealth entity dedicated to improving housing outcomes for Australians.
It was established by the Australian Government in the 2017-18 Budget as a key part of their Reducing Pressure on Housing Affordability plan.
NHFIC’s key functions are to make loans and investments and issue grants to improve housing outcomes, with a particular focus on affordable housing.
Following the last election, NHFIC’s mandate has been extended to take on responsibility for delivering the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme (FHLDS), together with a new housing research function.
The FHLDS will support up to 10,000 first home loan guarantees each financial year. Eligible borrowers can use the guarantee in conjunction with other government programs like the First Home Super Saver Scheme, state and territory First Homeowner Grants and stamp duty concessions.
About the role
We have a rare opportunity for a Compliance Manager to play a key business partnering role in managing compliance obligations, creating and upholding policies, providing training and communications as to embed a positive compliance culture within the organization.
Reporting to the General Counsel and Board Secretary, the role will focus on managing the overall compliance function and developing, implementing and managing the contract management, audit and compliance program for the FHLDS (the extended mandate).
You will work with NHFIC stakeholders, lender administrators and government stakeholders (including Commonwealth Treasury). The role will also work alongside the Director, FHLDS to bring about the short and long term strategies for the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance and improvement of the FHLDS.

To be successful in the role, you will have a solid understanding of compliance and the Australian lending, financial institution and borrower landscape. A background in government in addition to your compliance expertise will be highly regarded.
